Is there anyone who knows much about Quantity Surveyor profession? or other related careers?

Currently, most of the QS profession are implemented in construction industry. But, there is a trend that the QS may diversify their careers into other sector, eg. oil and gas services, heavy industry... I would like to ask for some opinions regarding the involvement of Quantity Surveyor in oild and gas services (petroleum industry). Is there available information or journals or articles that may provide me the information of this topic? :) Thanks you!
