My ball python has excreted some sort of oil like substance, what is it and should i be worried?

When I looked into his cage this morning I noticed that there was some clear liquid all over the bottom of the cage. At first I thought he had just spilled all his water but there was still quite a bit in his bowl. When I went to clean it up it didn't soak into the paper towels like water would, it felt like some kind of oil and it was a bit sticky. I've had Silas for almost 4 years and this had never happened before. I just want to know if I should be worried. He seems fine now but I have no idea what that was or where it came from, for that matter.
