Is there any truth to the notion that the best marriages are boy and girl next door?
I've always loved romance, glamour and adventure. I'm from the US but I'm attracted to Mexican guys and always have been, but never interested in guys from my own culture. I'm not racist per se, it's the fact that I want someone DIFFERENT. If I were Mexican I might be attracted to Brits or something... just the need for excitement. The thought of marrying the "little boy next door" just seems so tiresome, and commonplace, and unexciting. My mom says "those are the marriages that work." But how can it WORK if I'm bored to death? I envision myself living in Raleigh (a very yuppie whitebread town in North Carolina) and making ambrosia salad for some yuppie husband's fantasy football club meeting and I just cringe. I think, oh man, what a drag. Am I weird? Other people of my generation seem very closed with the idea that you're "suppposed" to "stick with your own kind." I'm just rebellious, I know! But I don't think it's a bad thing? Is my mom right??
