Emancipation of a minor?

I have a 16yo son who is gay. He constantly gets harrased at school because of his lifestyle. We have a friend of the family that lives in a school district that the students/educators are more acceptable of his lifestyle who has graciously said our son could live with him. What we wanna know is how do we go about withdrawing our son from his current highschool and enrolling him into the new district without us having to move down there? We live in Hammond, La and where he wants to move to is Lafayette.La.
